There is nothing supreme other than sustainable welfare and happiness of everyone in the present and in the future. There is nothing eternal other than change and impermanence through endless recycling.
There is no supreme creator and controller with will or wish because everything arises due to the known and unknown constituent cause and conditions. Improvement happens with improvement in the constituent cause and conditions but not due to worshiping or praying. Spark of life is an accident interspersed with your responses and reactions due to your needs, desires, expectations, attachments, aversions, fears etc. in the momentary rhythm of universe. In the greater context, life and this universe has no meaning or purpose. Supreme creator and eternal self are your own projections for some reason. Life and the world are cycle of accidents, fallouts of accidents and your reactions and responses to it.
There is no eternal self, spirit or soul of any kind with life after death. You get recycled in your ecosystem and you continue in your impact on yourself and on your ecosystem. If the idea of eternal immortal inner self or soul was true, then life forms would not struggle to survive and would willingly die in order to experience liberation and divine bliss of communion with the supreme creator waiting for you in hell or heaven.
No behavior or instincts of any natural life forms can demonstrate or can be mapped to existence of any supreme creator and controller. If a supreme factor created and controlled the life, then there is no need for humans or any life-form to struggle and suffer for survival against will of the supreme creator like a baby living at the mercy of it’s mother.
If there was really any supreme creator and controller with will, desire or wishes to influence life, then the lives of those who believe in existence of supreme creator would be much better or without suffering than those who are atheist or non-believers. However, most of the people who believe in the idea of supreme creator suffer from ignorance, poverty and exploitation whereas people without such beliefs seem better off.

Existence is fraught with accidents and it’s fallouts which seem orderly and with purpose only up to a certain point until the next accident happens. Society is artificial and it’s order and purpose is artificially controlled by greater factors in the greater context.
Even if there was a supreme power that created, controlled or bestowed, it must be dead, disintegrated, dispersed and recycled by now. Hence, as classically said, “God is dead and humanity is free” responsible to shape its own destiny. Even if supreme creator is still alive, it seems to have lost its plot. The idea of supreme creator is totally unreliable.

“Spiritual experiences” are not due to communion with the supreme creator and controller or experience of after-life. Spiritual experiences are extreme natural experiences or outliers experienced due to factors like deep stress relief, deep relaxation or deep rejuvenation which in turn are due to optimum natural cause and conditions of life processes rather than divine grace or miracle.
Enlightenment is to recognize what is obvious but forgotten and spiritual enlightenment is to recognize the forgotten truth of your nature that you were born with.
